Tijeras Mitten & Red River Glove Patterns Now Free
In anticipation of finishing up this last pattern design (which will also be free), I've been going through all my patterns and deleting some of the older and unpopular ones. Both my Tijeras Mittens and Red River Gloves patterns were very unpopular but I didn't want to delete them so I thought I'd make them free.
The Tijeras Mittens use four colors of O Wool Classic 2 ply which is a thick fingering weight and very elastic. The mittens feature a peasant thumb and are pretty fun to knit. Alas, this pattern is by far my least popular - since publication in 2009 I've sold less than 5 copies.
I hope to finally have an FO for you very soon!

The Red River Gloves use Knit Picks' Palette yarn and feature a sore thumb and a colorwork gauntlet cuff with a picot hem. You could just do some ribbing though if you don't like stranded color knitting - the pattern comes in two sizes.

Favorite Online Glove Patterns

House Gloves - This simple pattern with striped fingers uses worsted weight yarn. The pattern includes instructions for using dpns, 2 circs, and the Magic Loop method to knit gloves.
I-Cord Gloves - This serial pattern from Nonaknits features I-cord fingers, top-down construction and Joyce William's fun technique for in between the fingers.
Ken Gloves - This Berroco pattern is sized for men and knit with a thick yarn.
Sanquhar Gloves - These traditional Scottish Gloves using lace weight yarn are considered the pinnacle of glove making. This incredible pattern is from a Japanese knitting web site and is error-free.
Sideways Gloves - If you can't decide whether to knit your gloves cuff-up or top-down, try making them sideways.
Starlight Evening Gloves - These long gloves use an eyelet pattern and a decorative seam.
Opera Glove - This pattern for elbow length pair of gloves has good photos on how to pick up stitches from a peasant thumb.
Wedding Day Lace Gloves - This beautiful lacy pair of long gloves is perfect for a bride.
Women's Lace Gloves - Nifty vintage pattern for gloves. I made these a long time ago (I have the vintage pattern booklet) and they turned out beautifully.

Free Patterns
Peaches has recently figured out how to open the bottom kitchen cabinets and she keeps pulling stuff out in her tireless search for something to eat. This morning I found her playing with the lid to my rice cooker. She doesn't care what mayhem she creates. Ever since she was voted Best Blog Pet she thinks she can do no wrong.

Horcrux Socks
Here are Susan's adorable Horcrux socks. I used violet Wool of the Andes and a slightly tighter gauge (size 4 dpns) because I only had two skeins of yarn and I have size 9 feet. Good thing I did because I only had a few yards of yarn left over. The free .PDF pattern for the socks is HERE.
I just bought these two fabrics to make camp-type short-sleeved shirts for DH. I only purchased the lighthouse fabric because it was on sale but I adore the fabric on the right from a Mardi Gras fabric collection. It has gold metallic accents and will look wonderful on him. I suspect it may be too busy alone so I'm going to add some black cotton of a similar weight and make him a two-tone shirt.
Ms. Peaches LaRue is in her punk rock stage. Every rabbit I've ever known has shed in a different style and Peaches does it all over at the same time, giving her a pathetic ragamuffin appearance. I try to pull out all the excess fur but she disapproves greatly of this practice. She takes off for parts unknown if she even suspects I have a comb or brush.
I'm done goofing off - I need to do nothing but gloves for the next few weeks until the booklet is finished.
