As I figured the insurance company will not pay for reimbursing stolen items in the truck. And the deductible is about the same amount as the damage to the vehicle so we're just going to get it fixed ourselves. The most unpleasant part of this though is that DH had the files for our taxes in his briefcase. We will have to file for an extension to get all our papers in order but more unpleasantly, have to start thinking about identity theft. There was definitely enough info in there for someone to get a new credit card in DH's name.

HERE's what the govt says to do in that situation. Essentially we have to put a credit fraud alert on our accounts via the credit score companies. Then we wait to see if anyone tries to open a credit card or open any other accounts in our name. Thieves can also attempt to open phone and utilities accounts with stolen info but I'm currently not sure how to deal with that. We need to get a copy of the police report.

Well I'm off to call the credit score companies to issue a fraud alert. Then I will clean the house. Perhaps then I will be then be in a good enough mood not to murder DH for leaving his briefcase with all this info in the truck.
