Katherine Pence Socks

I received the three books I ordered from Schoolhouse Press. There was a small Christmas stocking book and The Tongue River Farm Sock Collection from Katherine Pence (now Katherine Misegades). I've always loved her designs from And a Time to Knit Stockings and this small booklet with 6 patterns is wonderful also. Check out MYKP's beautiful Waves & Rivulet Socks from the Tongue River book HERE - aren't they great? I want to make the Buds & Blossoms socks in black and white first.

Here are some photos of socks I did from her first book - I charted out Noel on top of the Christmas socks.

Best of all is the third book I received. It is a tiny book called Cimdi. Duraini. and it is full of gorgeous Latvian mittens and some gloves. No patterns, not much info, but some terrific photographic inspiration for our first snowy day here in NM. The one thing I notice about the Latvian mittens and gloves in it is that the tips of the fingers are much more pointy than usual. And lots of three color rows which we all love of course.

Mock Argyle Socks

I finished the back piece of St. Enda this weekend. I'm enjoying this sweater tremendously and will be sad when I'm done. I've been looking through my Alice Starmore books to determine my next project. I may make one of the wraps in Aran Knitting or In the Hebrides. I'd love the Henry the VII pillow kit from Virtual Yarns but it is just too expensive. I will get started on my kit for the Celtic Keynot pillow soon. I really would like
to make a ton of pillows for the living room.

Here is the Mock Argyle sock from Katherine Pence's A Time to Knit Stockings done in Stahl Baby Merino. These were for my childhood friend Cindy in Baltimore who always has cold feet. She has been requesting more socks but lately I just can't get in the mood to knit socks. I guess I made too many for a while and burnt out. If I do manage to make the Spring
Fever socks I'll send them to her.

Tree Socks

Although I've been knitting for a long time, I am continually amazed at its power to transform an less-than-wonderful day. I'm quitting caffeine for the millionth time, I waited for 8 hours for the satellite dish guys to show up and they had no idea what was wrong with my dish anyway, I have a sick pet, etc. But all I needed to lift my spirits was to start yet another project. I decided to join the Fuzzy Feet Felt-a-long. I'm finishing up slipper number two and am looking forward to felting them tomorrow. Right before Christmas I purchased all the Fiber Trends slipper felting patterns and am looking forward to checking them out also. I'd have already made some clogs by now but I don't have any heavy worsted yarn in my stash.

I received the Sirdal buttons from Bea Ellis Knitwear and really like how they look. I think this is exactly what I needed to kick me into gear to finishing this neverending sweater. Now here's a photo of a tree-themed sock from A Time To Knit Stockings in Nylamb.
