While we usually associate carrots with the color orange, carrots can actually be found in a host of other colors including white, yellow, red, or purple. In fact, purple, yellow and red carrots were the only color varieties of carrots to be cultivated before the 15th or 16th century.

BODY
Cast on 15 stitches plus 2 edge stitches (=17 stitches)
Row 1: Knit 1, Knit in front and back15 times, Knit 1 (=32 stitches)
Row 2 and all alt rows: Purl
Row 3: Knit 1, * Knit 2, Knit in front and back, repeat from * 10 times, Knit 1 (=42 stitches)
Purl the next row and then work 10 rows of stocking stitch.
Row 15: Knit 1, *Knit 3, Knit two together, repeat from * 8 times, Knit 1 (=34 stitches)
Purl the next row and then work 8 rows of stocking stitch.
Next row: Knit 1, * Knit 2, Knit two together, repeat from * 8 times, Knit 1(26 stitches)
Purl the next row and then work 6 rows of stocking stitch.
Next row: Knit 1, *Knit 1, Knit two together, repeat from * 8 times, Knit 1(18 stitches)
Purl the next row and then work 4 rows of stocking stitch.
Next row: Knit 1, Knit two together 8 times, Knit 1 (10 stitches)
Purl the next row and then work 2 rows of stocking stitch
Next row: Knit two together 5 times.
Purl the next row then run the threaded needle through remaining stitches on needle, pull tightly and secure. Sew the edge seam, stuff the carrot and then run a threaded needle through the cast on edge, pull tightly.
Finally, take a few minutes decorating your carrot.
