Knitting is a unlimited hobby by age and very feminine. It often gives me minutes of wonderful relaxation after mental stress. Maybe the stress of the modern life puts too much pressure. For me, knitting is a good time to reflect on life lessons and I often spend much time knitting on the weekend.
I finished a blue scarf for my sister over the weekend, and I am very pleased. This knitting pattern is very simply to memorize after a few repeats, making for quick and fun work. It seem designed by Brooke Nelson.
Instructions:
p2tog tbl = purl 2 together through back loops
SKP = slip 1, k1, psso (psso = pass slipped stitch over knit stitch)
Slip 1 = slip 1 knitwise
Cast on 39 stitches.
Knit about 1 inch of garter stitch edging as follows:
(WS) p1, knit across until last stitch, p1
(RS) slip 1, knit across until last stitch, slip 1
Repeat for about 8 rows, or until it is as long as you like. End on a WS row.
Row 1 (RS): slip 1, k2, SKP, yo, k2, p2, K7, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, p1, yo, k1, yo, SKP, k7, p2, SKP, yo, k4, slip 1 (You will have 41 stitches on your needle at the end of this row, and at the end of all RS rows.)

Row 3 (RS): slip 1, k2, SKP, yo, k2, p2, k5, k2tog, k1, (yo, k1) twice, p1, k1, (yo, k1) twice, SKP, k5, p2, SKP, yo, k4, slip 1
Row 4 (WS): p1, k2, p2tog, yo, p2, k2, p4, p2tog tbl, p5, k1, p5, p2tog, p4, k2, p2tog, yo, p2, k2, p1
Row 5 (RS): slip 1, k2, SKP, yo, k2, p2, k3, k2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, p1, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, SKP, k3, p2, SKP, yo, k4, slip 1
Row 6 (WS): p1, k2, p2tog, yo, p2, k2, p2, p2tog tbl, p7, k1, p7, p2tog, p2, k2 p2tog, yo, p2, k2, p1
Row 7 (RS): slip 1, k2, SKP, yo, k2, p2, k1, k2tog, k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, p1, k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, SKP, k1, p2, SKP, yo, k4, slip 1
Row 8 (WS): p1, k2, p2tog, yo, p2, k2, p2tog tbl, p9, k1, p9, p2tog, k2, p2tog, yo, p2, k2, p1
Repeat these 8 rows until the scarf is the length you want. Then repeat the instructions for garter stitch edge, then bind off, and weave in ends. It is very important to block this scarf to get the pattern to lie flat.
Thank you for reading and have a fun knit!
